Munich and LA-based Construction Films has appointed former Bavaria Fiction boss Marcus Ammon as its managing director, as part of a wider rejig of the production company’s senior exec team.

Ammon had led programming at Das Boot and Babylon Berlin producer Bavaria Film since 2021 but will now oversee content at Construction, which counts Netflix’s The Unforgivable and RTL+ drama Entführt – 14 Tage Überleben among credits.

Prior to Bavaria Film, Ammon worked at Sky Deutschland as senior vice president of originals, and before that was managing director of MGM Networks in Germany.

Ammon will work alongside Construction founder Veronica Ferres, who was previously the sole managing director. The company’s CFO Ralf Berchtold is also now taking up a managing director position, having been named CFO last year.

Berchtold has been with Construction since 2013 and working as a producer since 2022, responsible for projects including The eight, starring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe.

Ferres said: “Ralf has been with me since the company was founded and impresses me every day with his expertise and wonderful team spirit.

“I have valued Marcus for a long time and greatly admire his career path. With him, we now have a very experienced sparring partner on board who will enrich Construction Films with his extensive knowledge and high standing in the industry.”

Ammon added: “Being able to help shape Construction Film’s development in terms of content and strategy alongside Veronica and Ralf fills me with great joy, but also with the necessary sense of responsibility for this exciting task.”

Construction Films has been behind features such as Crisis with Gary Oldman and Russell Crowe-starring The Weight, as well as ZDF drama Tod auf Raten.
