Fremantle’s Vasha Wallace exits after two decades

Vasha Wallace, Fremantle’s veteran global format chief, is leaving the RTL Group-owned company after more than 20 years.

Wallace had most recently been exec vice president of global acquisitions and development at Fremantle, having joined the company in 2004 following a stint at Sky New Zealand.

She worked on shows ranging from Project Runway and Farmer Wants a Wife to The Apprentice, as well as local remakes of formats such as The Masked Singer and The Traitors.

Her exit is the latest change at Fremantle’s format unit, following the departure of global entertainment boss Andrew Llinares in February and the appointment of ex-NBC Universal Ben Crompton in March.

Wallace wrote in a memo to staff that she would depart next month and launch a consultancy, adding that she had been “enormously lucky and grateful to work with a brilliant, ridiculously talented bunch of people over the last two decades.”

She continued: “Next up: I’m building myself a portfolio career, which is a fancy way of saying ‘doing several interesting things at once and hoping it all comes together.

“Part of that will be consulting in international television, so our paths will continue to cross. I’m rather excited about it.”
