Former France TV execs and the co-founder of Paris-based R&G Production are launching a new AI-powered online content sales platform.

Bunqer will unveil a beta version of the platform at MIP London later this month and is set to be rolled out globally at the end of the year.

It is being launched by R&G’s Stephane Gateau and former lawyer Charles van den Broek, with a board that includes former France TV and Endemol France chief Yves Bigot.

Richard Le Normand, former chief exec of StudioCanal, and Havas APAC alum Olivier Pluquet are also on the board of Bunqer, which uses AI to allow content buyers and seller to agree on a deal in a few clicks.

The platform is targeting sellers’ back catalogues and buyers who need cost effective acquisitions and comes in the wake of previous online marketplaces such as now defunct Vuulr.

More than 8,000 hours of shows are set to be available on Bunqer, with the platform also able to subtitle content into 75 languages.

Details of programming available have not been revealed by partners include ESPN and Millimages. BNP Paribas is a partner and sponsor, ensuring all financial transactions are secure, while investment bank BPI France is a financing partner.

Gateau said Bunqer aimed to provide broadcasters and local platforms with “an easy, cost-effective and flexible solution to today’s programming challenges.”
