FX drama The Bear is to shut up shop after its upcoming fifth season, according to star Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Christopher Storer-created series, which is from FX Productions, completed its fourth run on the Disney-owned network last year and recently completed filming on the fifth in Chicago.

It stars Jeremy Allen White as a chef who revives his brother’s ailing sandwich shop, with Curtis, Abby Elliot, Lionel Boyce and Matty Matheson among the cast.

Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed the news on US talkshow Entertainment Tonight, having initially suggested the show would be ending via an Instagram post in February.

“Finished strong! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with,” she wrote. “Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear.”

The series, which Storer had originally envisaged as having four seasons, was extended into a fifth by FX last year.

It has landed more than 20 Emmy Awards, including a best comedy series prize in 2023.

FX has yet to formally confirm the news.
