ITVX in the UK has picked up Australian crime thriller Last King of the Cross, Broadcast International has learned.

The drama had previously aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK following a pre-sale struck ahead of the show’s launch in 2023, but ITVX has now taken rights to the first two seasons after a deal with distributor Cineflix Rights.

The series, which will launch on ITVX from 1 November, tracks how two brothers battle to the top of the Australian underworld but became estranged along the way.

It is inspired by John Ibrahim’s best-selling autobiography that charts his rise from a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money and no prospects, to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul.

Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes star, with Mark Fennessy-founded Helium Pictures producing.

The show’s most recent second season debuted in May 2024 but Broadcast International understands a third season is in the works, with development underway.

The first season of Last King of the Cross premiered on Paramount+ in Australia in 2023 and became the streamer’s most-watched Australian series. The second season premiered on 30th August 2024.

Fennessy and Ibrahim are EPs, with the drama written by Kieran Darcy-Smith, Morgan O’Neill, Jane Allen, Alastair Newton Brown, Matt Nable and James Pope. Kieran Darcy-Smith, Grant Brown, Catherine Millar and Ian Watson direct.
