US broadcaster’s 2025/26 plans also include extension for UKTV acquisition The Hunting Party
NBC has made room for its NBA basketball coverage with a flurry of cancellations but has also unveiled a handful of new shows for its 2025/26 schedule.
On the comedy front, Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe will star in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which is exec produced by 30 Rock creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
Carlock and Sam Means (30 Rock) write, with the series focusing on a disgraced former football player (Morgan), who is on a mission to rehabilitate his image.
As part of NBC’s rolling development cycle, the network has also greenlit comedy pilots for Stumble, from Jeff and Liz Astrof, and an untitled project from Sierra Teller Ornelas (Superstore). If picked up to series, they could air in the 2025-26 season.
Renewals include sitcoms Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical, alongside dramas Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party, the latter of which was picked up by UKTV earlier this year. NBC cancelled five shows, including Suits LA, over the weekend.
Also formally greenlit is previously revealed On Brand with Jimmy Fallon, which follows the talkshow star as he starts a premier marketing agency and fills it with the most creative, clever and competitive go-getters he can find.
Other returners include competition series The Voice and Surviving Earth, while the network and sibling streamer Peacock start their 11-year agreement to show NBA and WNBA regular season and playoff basketball games from October.
Peacock will livestream exclusive national Monday night games while NBC/Peacock will present national coverage of regional doubleheaders on Tuesday nights.
NBC Sports will also launch Sunday Night Basketball in 2026 across NBC and Peacock, providing fans with three consecutive nights of national coverage across NBCUniversal platforms during the second half of the regular season.
