Netflix has struck an unprecedented deal with TF1 that will see the French broadcaster’s live channels and on-demand shows become available on the streamer.

The arrangement will begin in summer 2026 and will provide all Netflix members in France with access to TF1 channels and the shows currently accessible via its TF1+ streamer.

Programming included in the deal ranges from scripted dramas like Broceliande and Erica, to soaps such as Demain Nous Appartient and Ici Tout Commence, while the broadcaster’s unscripted franchises including Koh-Lanta (the French adaptation of Survivor), and The Voice will also be available.

Major live sports matches are also included in the agreement, which is the first of its kind to be struck by the streamer.

Netflix, which has been behind domestic hits such as Lupin, has had a close relationship with TF1 over recent years, having launched in the country in 2014.

The two companies have co-produced shows including Les Combattantes, L’Agence and Tout le Bleu du Ciel, and partnered on daily drama Tout Pour La Lumière (All for Light), whose episodes will debut on TF1 and TF1+ before becoming available via Netflix five days later.

The streamer said the agreement would enable its subscribers to watch TF1 content “without ever having to leave the service”, with the deal coming ahead of a potential review of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), which governs Europe’s relationship with streamers.

“This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,” said Greg Peters, co-chief exec of Netflix.

“By teaming up with France’s leading broadcaster we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.”

Rodolphe Belmer, chief exec at TF1 Group, added: “As viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1+ platform.”
