George Cheeks details execs who will run brands including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon
Paramount Skydance’s chair of TV media has revealed the execs who will oversee the US studio’s cable operations including MTV and Comedy Central.

The changes, which come after last week’s cuts, will see Laurel Weir overseeing programming for brands including Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon, as well as leading global programme acquisitions across TV.
Jeannie Scalzo will join Weir in taking oversight of MTV, with former unscripted exec Sitarah Pendelton leading on series and specials.
Nickelodeon International veteran Jules Borkent will lead the kids brand’s strategy, with Ashley Kaplan and Alex Botnick working on animation.
Kaplan and Botnick will also work across development of new animations for MTV, Comedy Central and CBS.
Other changes include Ari Pearce taking control of Comedy Central, Bryon Rubin becoming chief operating officer and chief financial officer, and Alllison Brightman and Jeeun Kim overseeing business affairs. It was not immediately clear who will run other networks such as TV Land and VH1.
Announcing the changes, Cheeks said that Paramount Skydance’s brands such as CBS, BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon had “entertained audiences and shaped culture for decades.”
He continued: “While the industry has changed considerably, their brand identities and creative voices are meaningful and remain strong. Together, we will reimagine how we leverage their power across platforms in ways that reflect today’s audiences and tomorrow’s possibilities.
“Our purpose is clear: to reinvent and strengthen our brands to build a stronger future that’s rooted in exceptional storytelling across entertainment, news and sports.”
Paramount Global co-chief exec Chris McCarthy had previously overseen Showtime and MTV before exiting earlier this year.
