ITV Studios format to be remade for American audiences for third time following attempts with ABC and NBC more than a decade ago
Peacock has greenlit an “updated and amped-up” version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, marking the format’s third remake in the US.
The ITV Studios show will debut in 2027 and pairs celebrities with a civilian close friend or family member as they attempt to complete challenges in a bid to win a $100,000 prize.
Get Me Out of Here (wt) is from Love Island USA producer ITV America, with Traitors duo Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch signed up to host.
The series follows the familiar format of seeing celebrities stripped of every luxury as they face physical and psychological challenges to earn rewards.
It will be set in “a dense and unforgiving jungle”, Peacock said, without confirming the location. ITV Studios operates hubs for the format in Australia and South Africa.
David George, David Eilenberg and Jordana Hochman are executive producers, with the show based on the format created by Lifted Entertainment and distributed by ITVS.
It debuted on ITV in 2002 and was remade for ABC in the US a year later, lasting one season. NBC then rebooted the format in 2009, filming in Costa Rica, but the show again only lasted for one season.
