Company veteran to take up newly created role overseeing global sales from Munich
Married At First Sight distributor Seven. One Studios International has promoted Tobias Schulze to become senior vice president of global sales.
Schulze will be based out of Munich and takes up the role immediately, with a remit to lead Seven. One’s sales team in London and Germany.
He will also work closely with the acquisitions and marketing teams at Seven. One, which is also behind dating format Stranded on Honeymoon Island, a remake of which was ordered by the UK’s BBC.
Schulze started his career in production before joining Seven. One Studios International in 2010 as a sales coordinator, rising to become vice president of sales for the German and French-speaking territories and Benelux.
He will report to Martin Metzger, chief operating officer at Seven. One Studios and managing director of Seven. One Studios International.
Metzger said: “This is a very well-deserved appointment. Tobi is a talented and experienced sales executive with a wealth of knowledge about the international formats and scripted businesses.
“A tough but fair dealmaker, he has been instrumental in helping to grow Seven. One Studios International and is ideally placed to lead the sales team going forward. I’m looking forward to working closely with him.”
Schulze added: ”We have a number of very strong brands in our slate which are working well for broadcasters and platforms, with more to come in the future.”
The appointment comes after ZDF Studios hired Seven. One Studios International’s former managing director Tim Gerhartz as its chief operating officer.
Seven. One Studios is owned by German broadcast giant ProSiebenSat.1, which has been at the centre of a protracted ownership battle over recent months that has seen the Berlusconi family’s MediaForEurope recently take a controlling stake in the company.
