Eight-episode drama marks latest partnership between European trio following Maxima

Dutch streamer Videoland is again partnering with Beta Film and Millstreet Films, this time on a romantic dramedy set in Barcelona.
La Vida Barcelona (8 x 30 minutes) is directed by Katina Medina Mora (Emily in Paris), Charlotte Scott-Wilson (Hold On), and Ayla Spaans (When We Were Strangers).
Rachel van Bommel of Millstreet is producing the series, which follows a young Dutch designer who is sent to Barcelona by her powerful mother to secretly undermine a rival agency.
However, she is swept off her feet by the vibrant city, her new job and new love interests. Emily Reekers, Jikkie Schelling and Alix van der Goes are writers.
The show has wrapped shooting in Barcelona and is now moving to Amsterdam, with Holly Mae Brood, Priscilla Delgado (Euphoria) and Greta Fernández (The Walking Dead) among cast.
Beta Film is handling global sales on the series, which is supported by the Netherlands Film Fund Production Incentive, the Spanish Tax Rebate, and the Creative Europe Media program.
The show marks the third project between Millstreet Films, Videoland and Beta Film, following Maxima and upcoming spin-off The Other Royals - A Maxima Story.
Justus Riesenkampff, exec vice president of Nordics & Benelux at Beta Film, said: “With La Vida Barcelona, we are taking our collaboration with Millstreet to the next level of internationalization.
“With top talents attached such as Emily in Paris’ director Katina Medina Mora and Euphoria’s Priscilla Delgado, the show is set to compete with premium English-language productions in the genre.”
Millstreet producer Van Bommel described the female-driven show as a “a feel-good series, emotionally grounded in a modern mother-daughter relationship.”
