Netherlands-based streamer is owned by RTL Nederland owner DPG Media
Dutch streamer Videoland has completed its deal to buy Viaplay’s operations in the country for €142m (£122m).
Viaplay’s Netherlands-based streaming and broadcast division generated €149m revenue in 2025, with the entirety of the division set to fall under the control of Videoland.

The streamer is owned by Belgium’s DPG Media, which acquired RTL Nederlands from Fremantle owner RTL Group last year for €1.1bn.
Total cash proceeds from the transaction are expected to hit approximately €100m after transaction and restructuring costs, and future payments in relation to legacy multi-year agreements.
Proceeds will be used to reduce the group’s net debt level, with Viapay adding that the deal would not change its targets for 2026.
Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, Viaplay Group president and chief exec, said: ”Now that the transaction is complete, our resources are fully focused on our operations in our core Nordic markets, where we have the greatest scale and synergy potential.
“We are proud of the business we have built in the Netherlands, and grateful to our local colleagues for making this possible. We wish the team every success under the ownership of Videoland, which is well-placed locally to develop the business further.”
Viaplay has been unwinding operations around the world over recent years as it looks to refocus efforts on its core Nordic markets, following an expansion across Europe and the US that came to an end amid a severe financial downturn in 2023.
Prior to the collapse, Viaplay had commissioned local Dutch originals such as The Hunt, Roombeek and thriller The Guilty, but the shows were cancelled amid the financial turmoil.
