Loft London is set to acquire Zodiak Rights’ 15-strong postproduction team as part of a fiveyear post, content management and distribution deal.

The deal will involve Zodiak Rights moving its post operation to Loft’s Chiswick Park base, which will house four edit suites for the preparation of content that the distributor intends to sell, including QC, storage, compliance and some promo creation.

Loft will also act as Zodiak Rights’ distribution hub, fulfilling orders for content from the international division of Zodiak Media.

Loft currently provides disaster recovery and business continuity services to Zodiak Rights, with the company’s content library backed up on active disk and LTO at two sites.

The new deal is expected to close “imminently”, with 15 Zodiak staff due to move to Loft by 1 January.

Zodiak Rights chief operating officer Sara Wookey said the firm’s post-production requirements were growing rapidly.

“This potential agreement promises to be a strategic alliance which will allow us to manage this increased workload while taking advantage of Loft London’s expertise and state-of-the-art facilities.”

Zodiak will use Loft’s Cubix workflow management platform to move content between its Kensington base and Loft, and to add metadata to content.

Loft has also introduced a file-based QC and approval workflow for Zodiak Rights content.

Loft London chief executive David Barrett described the tie-up as “a key milestone for the business”.

He said: “We have worked closely with senior management at Zodiak Rights to ensure that the fit is right for their business and look forward to providing all their content management and distribution needs.”
