Studio is being built alongisde data centre and robotics arm at Salford HQ
Media Stream AI has announced plans to build a fully-automated virtual production studio in Salford.
The company, which launched earlier this year, claims the facility will be able to operate without any human presence, using robotic arms created by Media Stream AI. You can see a concept for how this will work above.
The AI-powered robotic arms will also be available for other uses, with the company spinning off MSAI Robotics to sell them.
The studio will be built alongside a 2MW data centre that will be used for AI purposes. Media Stream has a Lenovo TruScale agreement, which allows the company to consume Lenovo ThinkSystem servers with Neptune warm-water cooling technology on a pay-as-you-grow basis.
The centre’s water cooling technology is designed to clean the canal water as it comes into the facility, separating the bio energy from the waste to provide power, while the water is then used to direct cool GPU’s. It will also be powered by a solar power array, and will come online early next year.
In addition to the studio and robotic arms, Media Stream AI has also announced a software-based product that the data centre will also power. IntuiTV aims to use AI to optimise broadcast transmission in terms by identifying each individual transmission signal and switching it off at the root each time a consumer’s screen is switched off.
In addition, it will offer users the possibility of offering AI-powered personalised TV channels, using biometric and mood markers, picked up using wearables and other devices, as well as a propietary LLM, to understand what viewers want to watch and then serve it to them. This can be added to an existing streaming service.
IntuiTV has platform and content partners confirmed, and will launch later this year.
CEO of Media Stream AI Christopher Kenna said: “Having only started in February of this year, Media Steam AI’s meteoric rise is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity that has been harnessed to bring this new company to market. From contributing to the UK’s sovereign AI capacity, and developing novel clean tech to new broadcasting capabilities and robotics, I’m extremely proud that all this innovation, as part of our global growth strategy, has been built and delivered here in the North West of England.”
