Zeppotron & Initial for Prime Video

A shot in the arm for comedy entertainment, Zeppotron and Initial’s UK iteration of Amazon’s globetrotting format Last One Laughing was an instant hit.

The premise is simple;  a stand-out group of comics battle it out to make each other laugh, without laughing themselves.

As one judge says: “The stand-out casting that elevated the format into something truly special.”

With Jimmy Carr as host, the line up is a who’s who of Britain’s top comedic talent including Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper and Richard Ayoade, as they battle it out to amuse both their fellow comics and fans at home.

The show broke out with over 6m viewers in its first month of release in the UK, making it the second most popular series launch ever for the streaming service, beaten only by Clarkson’s Farm.

As well as its continuous laugh-out-loud moments, the judges were also impressed by the show’s set up, with one judging explaining: “The fixed rig set up was excellent, capturing spontaneous moments that added to the sense of jeopardy and made the show so compelling.”

Add to that a visually strong set that another judge felt “suited the tone perfectly” as well as a pressure cooker environment to create spontaneous comedy and it’s little wonder the entertainment format swiftly landed a second series order.
