Ronan Bennett commissioned to write docudrama on New York attacks
Controversial writer Ronan Bennett has been commissioned by Channel 4 to write a docudrama focusing on five of the hijackers who took part in the 11 September terrorist attacks, writes Leigh Holmwood.

Bennett, who sparked controversy when it was alleged his BBC drama Rebel Heart showed Irish Republican sympathies, is working on the project for indie Mentorn. It was ordered jointly by C4 head of documentaries Peter Dale and head of drama Tessa Ross and will air as part of a raft of shows to mark the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The film, which is being developed by Mentorn's head of development Alan Hayling, will be directed by Dan Reed and produced by Tom Whitby.
