Ludovic Attal joins Bad Boy producer to help expand Israeli and LA-based company’s global footprint

Former Amazon MGM Studios and TF1 exec Ludovic Attal has joined Bad Body and We Will Dance Again producer Sipur as president.
Attal will work alongside Sipur co-founders Emilio Schenker and Gideon Tadmor to expand the company’s global footprint, overseeing partnerships, development, financing and production of film and TV projects.
He takes on the role prevoiusly held by former Red Arrow Studios exec Michael Schmidt, who died last year.

The former Sony and Fox exec was most recently at Amazon MGM Studios, which he joined when Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) was acquired by the retail giant.
He held roles at MGM including senior vice president of content strategy for its sales division, working on shows such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo and Vikings.
Attal later oversaw international coproductions before leading programme strategy for the launch of Amazon MGM Studios’ pan-English division, with a slate that ranged from The Girlfriend to Steal.
He also led brand partnerships across the Amazon MGM Studios’ European originals slate, integrating brand financing into the studio’s output.
Attal’s arrival follows the February appointment of former Legendary Entertainment exec Deborah Kaufmann as chief of global content at Sipur, which is backed by former Paramount owner Shari Redstone.
“Ludovic is one of those rare executives who combines outstanding creative instincts with a sophisticated understanding of financing, strategy and international partnership-building,” said Schenker.
He added that Attal’s knowledge of “leveraging financial arbitrage across markets and structuring international co-productions in order to build, own and control IP” would be vital to Sipur’s growth.
Attal added: “What Emilio, Gideon and Shari and their highly talented team have achieved within a few short years is truly remarkable – acclaimed films, series and documentaries earning raves from critics, prestigious awards bodies and audiences worldwide alike.
“Sipur is that rare gem, a display of brilliant entrepreneurial energy, creative ambition and a deep commitment to backing the best filmmakers and storytellers. I’m excited to collaborate with them all as we continue to build on the company’s global reach and its expanding slate of high-end drama, documentary and feature storytelling through strategic partnerships.”
