AMC Networks has picked up US rights to Left Bank Pictures drama This City Is Ours, following a deal with Sony Pictures Television.

The series, which was unveiled to international buyers at London TV Screenings 2025, debuted on the BBC last year and is now heading Stateside to launch on AMC+ next month.

The Liverpool-based drug drama has also been sold by SPT to Stan (Australia), Sky (New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Austria), Bell Media (English Canada), Quebecor Content (French Canada) and RTE (Ireland), with the deals unveiled before Sony’s London TV Screenings event today.

Other deals have been struck with Tim Vision (Italy), Movistar Plus+ (Spain), AXN (Portugal), YLE (Finland), Telia Estonia (Estonia), Telia Play (Lithuania), Tet+ (Latvia), Nova (Greece), Syn (Iceland), Yes (Israel), Videoland (Netherlands), TV2 Norway (Norway), SVT (Sweden), Sony LIV (India), HBO Max (through Central and Eastern Europe, Poland), and beIN (across the Middle East and North Africa, Türkiye).

This City Is Ours became the BBC’s most watched new drama launch of 2025, attracting an average 5.8 million viewers, with more than 7.8 million viewers for the first episode to date.

The series was recommissioned for a second season, which is currently in production, by SPT-owned Left Bank in Liverpool with filming also taking place in Spain.

Jason Spivak, co-president of distribution and networks at SPT, said the AMC+ deal was “a testament to the series’ global appeal.”

He added: “The show taps into the enduring strength of family-driven crime drama - a powerful saga set inside a criminal empire where power, loyalty, and betrayal collide. Following its breakout launch at last year’s London Screenings, we’re excited to build on that momentum as we head into this year’s event.”

This City is Ours was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, and created by Stephen Butchard, who serves as lead writer, with Robbie O’Neill writing further episodes. Directors are Saul Dibb (The Salisbury Poisonings) and John Hayes (Nightsleeper).

Sony’s 2026 showcase is led by scripted duo S.W.A.T. Exiles, the 10 x 60-minute drama produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Television Studios, and Dear England from Left Bank Pictures.
