Australian streamer Stan is to launch an advertising tier that owner Nine says will support local productions.

The entry-level entertainment offering will become known as Basic with Ads and cost A$9.99 (£10.66) per month, which includes HD streaming.

The move will allow owner Nine to offer advertising across its assets, which includes the 9Network, 9Now, publishing, digital, 9Podcast and QMS Media.

Stan, which had only previously offered an ad tier for its sport service, currently offers a basic package without ads costing A$12 per month.

This will drop in price to become the new ad tier and sit alongside a standard offering - providing multiscreen access - costing A$17 per month. A premium service is also offered, allowing for more devices and offering 4K HD, which costs A$22 per month.

Amanda Laing, managing director of streaming & broadcast, said Nine’s reach - which it claims stands at 20 million Australians monthly - would provide a “powerful advantage” for brands.

“It enables advertisers to engage audiences in ways that are seamless, consistent and deeply impactful across all of Nine’s portfolio,” she continued.

Laing added that the offer would broaden access to Stan and “helps us reach more Australians across entertainment and live sport, while supporting continued investment in premium content and Australian storytelling.”
