Eight local creators with combined 33 million followers working on vertical video scripted series
Banijay Entertainment’ German division has tapped eight local creators to feature in its first microdrama as the group shifts into fast-growing medium, Broadcast International has learned.
The as-yet untitled show consists of 28 episodes and is being led by Banijay Productions Germany exec producer Imke Runde, who has produced the series in collaboration with the creators who have a combined reach of more than 33 million followers across social.

Details of the plot have been kept under wraps but discussions are underway with both streamers and brands. Banijay’s German division has previously worked on digital talent-driven shows such as Mission Unknown for Prime Video and struck collaborations with creators including SelfieSandra.
Runde’s credits run from shows such as Verklag Mich Doch! for Vox and Das Strafgericht for RTL to Patchwork Family for ProSiebenSat.1.
News of the microdrama push comes on the final day of Series Mania in Lille, where Banijay unveiled a scripted slate that includes fellow shortform drama Survival Sisters for Finland’s YLE. The 20 x 5-minute show will run on the broadcaster’s streaming and social platforms, while Banijay Iberia also confirmed it its developing three projects in the microdrama space.
The group’s Endemol Shine Brasil division has also linked with A Fábrica to create a slate of vertical-format dramas as it looks to tap into surging demand for vertical video.
Katrin Stefanović, managing director of Banijay Productions Germany, said the move was part of a strategy to follow shifting audience demands.
“Through platforms and mobile usage, narrative forms and viewing habits are shifting rapidly,” she said. “Microdramas offer an exciting space to experiment with new formats and distribution models. As a forward-facing company, we feel it’s important to shape trends and by combining our expertise with Imke’s, we have created a debut to demonstrate how impactful creator-led, mobile-first storytelling can be.”
Banijay Entertainment’s 60+ labels in Europe produce over 100 titles annually, with its Series Mania slate including A Woman of Substance, Motorvalley, BOHO, La Nena and The Anatomy of a Moment for Movistar+, which received its international festival premiere at Series Mania.
