Banijay Entertainment has unveiled its Mipcom line-up, which is being led by Richard Gadd drama Half Man and YouTube-inspired format Let’s Play Ball.

Half Man, which tracks the lives of two estranged brothers, was produced for BBC and BBC Scotland by Banijay UK’s Mam Tor in co-production with HBO.

It is joined on the scripted slate by The Forge Entertainment’s adaptation of Barbara Taylor-Bradford’s A Woman of Substance and Falling, a modern love story from Adolescence writer Jack Thorne.

Other series include Maigret, the first contemporary adaptation of Georges Simenon’s novels for Masterpiece from Playground, and These Sacred Vows, an Irish comedy drama for RTÉ from Treasure Entertainment.

The non English-language drama slate includes the Swedish re-imagining of detective drama Wallander by Jarowskij/Yellow Bird and Banijay Rights for TV4 and ARD Degeto.

There’s also French drama Disenchanted, which is being produced for France Télévisions and is from Banijay Studios France.

Let’s Play Ball leads the format slate, with the show recently extended into a second season by SBS6. It was produced by EndemolShine Nederland and Signal.Stream, with a UK version set to be unveiled.

Sports competition format Football Island, a co-production from SimpelZodiak and Southfields, is also being taken to Cannes, while the third-party non-scripted portfolio includes culinary format Atypical Critics from Pixcom International, featuring autistic food critics.

Factual highlights include Lost and Found in the Lakes from Welsh production company Tŷ’r Ddraig (part of Workerbee), and Wild Reckoning with Bear Grylls for BBC One.

Cathy Payne, chief exec at Banijay Rights, said: “We’re heading back to MIPCOM with a stellar line-up reflecting the breadth and ambition of our catalogue.

“From gripping, character-driven dramas like Half Man and A Woman of Substance, through to the emotional journeys of Wild Reckoning with Bear Grylls, we’re presenting an eclectic slate set to entice global buyers.”
