C4’s Patience goes global with Beta
AMC Networks in Lat Am and the ABC in Australia are among buyers of Channel 4 drama Patience, following deals with distributor Beta Film.
The British series has also been sold in Africa to BBC Brit, while in Europe Italy’s Rai has acquired rights. ProSiebenSat.1 has bought the series for Germany, VRT for Belgium, Latvia (TET), and Estonia (Telia).
In Asia, NOW TV Hong Kong and NHK Japan have acquired the rights, as well as Ajara TV Georgia for Georgia. Previous deals with Scandinavia, Spain, New Zealand, and others have already been announced, while PBS holds US rights.
Patience, produced by Eagle Eye Drama in association with Beta Film, is into its second season on Channel 4 and has now sold into more than 100 countries. A third run has been greenlit by C4.
Keshet drama sells to Apple TV
Apple TV has bought Israeli drama Unconditional following a deal with Keshet International.
The series, which debuts on Keshet 12 in Israel in April, is from co-creators Adam Bizanski (Magpie) and Dana Idisis (On the Spectrum), with Spiro Films producing.
It stars Liraz Chamami (Bad Boy) and newcomer Talia Lynne Ronn, with the eight-episode thriller making its debut on 8 May. Unconditional follows a mother-daughter pairing whose vacation turns into a nightmare when 23-year-old Gali (Ronn) is arrested for drug smuggling in Moscow.
Keshet International struck the deal for Unconditional. Apple TV has previously struck deals with the Israeli firm for shows including Echo 3, based on Keshet Studios’ English-language remake of When Heroes Fly, and Suspicion, the remake of False Flag from Keshet UK.
ZDFS to take Ancient Superstructures global
ZDF Studios has landed worldwide distribution rights (excluding French-speaking territories and Australia) to the fourth season of docuseries Ancient Superstructures.
Produced by Pernel Media in association with RMC Découverte, Histoire, SBS and ZDF Studios, the latest installment is currently in production and slated for completion in Spring 2026.
Ancient Superstructures uses tech including satellite imagery and microscopic analysis to decode the engineering mysteries of the world’s most iconic monuments. Season 4 will feature the Acropolis of Athens in Greece, Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle as well as Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, wiht crews gaining exclusive access to film the placing of the final stone on the main structure.
Disney, ITV expand content partnership
ITV and Disney have expanded their content sharing deal with an exclusive primetime linear agreement.
The partnership, which so far has been between ITVX and Disney+ content, will extend to linear broadcasting, with two Hulu original series from Disney+ airing on ITV1 in primetime slots.
The titles are psychological drama The Stolen Girl and The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Both series will air under the brand ‘Disney+ presents a Hulu Original’. Read more
Robin Hood returns on MGM+
MGM+ has renewed romantic adventure drama Robin Hood for a second season.
The 10-episode season will go into production at PFI Studios in Serbia this summer and is again from Lionsgate Television, with showrunner John Glenn and producer-director Jonathan English attached.
Executive producer Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures is also onboard the second run of the series, which is a contemporary re-telling of the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
In addition to premiering on MGM+ in the US, the show will be available to MGM+ viewers in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
HBO Max preps APAC expansion
Warner Bros. Discovery is launching streamer HBO Max in new markets across Asia Pacific on 26 March, including Bhutan, Fiji, Kiribati, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
The imminent roll-out follows HBO Max’s recent launch in Italy and Germany, and ahead of the UK and Ireland, also launching in March.
