Ignacio Soto Pérez has most recently been managing director at media brands including newspaper giant El País and radio firm Cadena SER, working on content and digital transformation.

He previously led TV channels including Cuatro and CNN+ in Spain, and held roles at local producer Vértice 360 before launching production and distribution outfit Onza TV.

Pérez reports to Elisabeth d’Arvieu, head of content for the Mediawan Group, and takes on the role from former Fremantle exec Jaime Ondarza, who was appointed interim chief exec at Boomerang last year after former incumbent Jorge Pezzi joined Movistar Plus+.

Ondarza had previously been chief exec of southern Europe and Israel for the RTL Group-owned giant but departed in 2024 after falling victim to a €1m digital scam.

Pérez said: “Boomerang TV has established itself as one of the key production companies in the audiovisual sector, thanks to a top-tier team, its proven ability to develop successful content, and the sustained trust it maintains with the main market players.

“In this context, joining Mediawan, with its international network of leading production companies and a world-class creative ecosystem, represents a unique opportunity to continue developing ambitious content.”

D’Arvieu added: “His experience in television, production, and business development, along with his track record in digital transformation and innovation in the media sector, will be key to the future of Boomerang TV and to continuing to drive the group’s development in Spain.”

Boomerang TV has produced more than 22,000 hours of scripted and unscripted shows since its formation 27 years ago, with the company acquired by Mediawan in 2020.

Its slate ranges from dramas such as the Entre Tierras franchise for Atresplayer and How to Screw It All Up for HBO Max, to unscripted shows including The Voice for Antena 3. The company launched Cut One, its scripted production label focused on innovating new formats and storytelling, last year.
