ABC Oz, Movistar Plus+ welcome The Forsytes

ITV Studios has struck a raft of deals for The Forsytes,, the drama originally commissioned by Masterpiece on PBS for the US and available on Channel 5 in the UK.

The period drama has been acquired by ABC for Australia, TVNZ in New Zealand, Virgin Media Ireland for the Republic of Ireland, Movistar Plus+ for Spain and Andorra, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland, DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, Tet for Latvia,  HRT for Croatia and HOT and YesTV for Israel.

Viasat World has also secured a pan-regional deal for the series across 22 countries in central and eastern Europe.

The series is a reimaging of John Galsworthy’s story and is set in 1880s London. It is produced by ITVS-owned Mammoth Screen.

 

Buyers Upfront returns to Lille

Series Mania has confirmed it will be hosting the second edition of its Buyers Upfront strand in 2026.

The prelude to the Series Mania Forum will take place 23 March and is designed to provide buyers with exclusive access to up to 12 series, while facilitating networking opportunities with distributors.

The call for series will be open from 16 December to 10 February. The event will again be held at the Chamber of Commerce in Lille and kicks off with the invitation-only BETA Brunch, followed by series presentation.

The slate is curated by the Festival’s artistic team and will include shows about to be released or still in post-production. A jury of buyers present the Buyers Choice Award for the most promising series.

 

Woodcut’s Egypt docuseries goes global

Australia’s SBS and the UK’s Channel 4 are among buyers of Woodcut Media’s latest colourised documentary about ancient Egypt.

The Race for Ancient Egypt in Colour (2 x 60 minutes) takes a look at the story of Egypt in the years between the World Wars, following the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Other buyers include BBC Studios (for BBC Earth in Africa and BBC Select in North America), AMC Networks International Southern Europe (for Canal Historia) and YLE Finland. Woodcut International distributes.
