Paramount alum joins Primitives

Belgian format distributor Primitives has appointed Katie Pike to become director of sales and acquisitions.

Pike starts 1 February and joins following a 14-year stint at Paramount Global Content Distribution, where she most recently served as director of formats.

Her arrival comes a month after Simone de Pruyssenaere de la Woestyne was appointed to take over from Jan Huyse as Primitives’ managing director.

Under the new structure, Pruyssenaere de la Woestyne will continue to oversee all sales and acquisitions to Benelux, Nordics, Germany and France, while Pike will represent in the US, Canada, Latin America, Spain, Italy, Portugal, the Middle East, Turkey and Asia. London-based sales and acquisitions manager Emma Gosling will continue to service clients in the UK, Australia and CEE.

 

Binge moves into The Burbs

Australian streamer Binge has picked up Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall-starring drama The Burbs.

The Universal Studio Group show is inspired by the 1989 horror-comedy film of the same name and follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home.

Their world is upended when a new neighbour moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light.

All episodes of the eight-parter drop 8 February, in tandme with the show’s launch on Peacock in the US.

 

450 buyers lined up for MIP London

MIP London organisers have said 450 buyers are now confirmed for its February event, including execs from Amazon MGM Studios, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount and Disney.

The event, which will run 22 to 24 February, has also revealed details of its documentary and factual strand line-up for the IET London and Savoy Hotel-based event, with Chris Packham and filmmaker Dr. Sofia Pineda Ochoa taking part in an onstage Q&A around Greenwashed.

The round table format Doc and Factual Co-Production Summit will also be expanded with hosts including SVT’s Mikael Osterby, Quintus Studios’ Gerrit Kemming, Deep Fusion Films’ Benjamin Field and Zinc Media’s Tanya Shaw.
