Shorties Studios will have bases in LA, London and Istanbul

Former Netflix exec Kelly Luegenbiehl, Golden Boy producer Onur Güvenatam and CBS alum Jon Koa have linked up to launch a vertical video production outfit.
Shorties Studios will have bases in LA, London and Istanbul, and will produce “commercial mobile-first short-form vertical video series” for global audiences.
The studio aims to produce for subscription streaming and social media platforms, as well as ad-supported branded content.
Luegenbiehl, who was vice-president of franchise and spectacle series at Netflix before departing in January 2024, said: “When I left legacy media 10 years ago to pioneer international content for Netflix, no one could have imagined the impact non-English language content would have on the world, transforming TV consumption as we know it. Today, I see that same potential with Vertical content.”
Güvenatam, the former TNT and O3 Productions exec who founded Turkey’s OGM Pictures, added that Shorties’ ambition is “to bring the same emotional depth, creative boldness, and global reach” as Turkish dramas have to audiences.
Koa, who was previously exec vice president of comedy development and programming at CBS, said the company would focus on “short-form series that will live across multiple platforms and reach audiences in ways they never could before.”
Koa added: “Vertical storytelling, with its real-time data and analytics, gives us clear signals not only on what resonates, but also where the opportunities for virality, brand partnerships, and full 360° monetization truly live.
“I’ve seen how effective short-form and branded content can be, and this next chapter lets us build in that world with intention, craft, and world-class partners.”
