Dandeloo moves into teen & YA animation 

Emmy Award-winning French animation production and distribution company Dandelooo is expanding into teen and young adult animation with a new dedicated unit.

The division aims to find distinctive, creator-led projects with fresh comedy and strong storylines, and has two original comedy series in the works: Apocalypse Mojito; and Armageddon Pizza.

Apocalypse Mojito is produced by French animation studio Passion Paris and directed by Julien Seze. The 2D animated comedy (10 x 7 minutes), which is ready for delivery, offers a satirical look at the future.

Armageddon Pizza (26 x 13 minutes) is from Je Suis Bien Content and directed by Aurélien Bouillon and Fabien Limousin. It follows pizza delivery drivers attempting to operate following a zombie apocalypse.

 

Korean, Singaporean drama unveiled amid copro push

Asian powerhouse MediaCorp has struck its second Korean drama co-production, this time on a 12-episode romantic comedy series.

Collateral Romance is co-produced by Mediacorp and Korean investment company Blintn, with Korea’s Bigwave Entertainment producing.

The series reflects Mediacorp’s push to bring Singapore and international creative talents together, with the series helmed by Korean director Kang Min-goo.

The drama follows two unlikely lovers who find themselves falling for each other, with Lee Do-yeon writing. Singapore’s Gladys Bay is among the cast.

 

ITV orders Clapperboard drama

Clapperboard Studios has secured its first ITV drama with a thriller that has already begun production in Ireland, Broadcast can reveal.

The six-part She Lies in Wait (w/t) was commissioned by drama chief Polly Hill and head of comedy Nana Hughes and is adapted from Gytha Lodge’s Jonah Sheens novels by Silent Witness screenwriter Ed Whitmore.

Blue Lights star Martin McCann will play the ‘likeable and dedicated’ DI Jonah Sheens, investigating the cold case of a teenager who vanished while on a camping trip with friends in the New Forest more than two decades ago.

The show is produced in association with Studio TF1 and will be directed by Marc Evans (The Steeltown Murders) and produced by Myf Hopkins (Little Disasters, The Castaways). Read more
