Fremantle alum Vivian Yin’s company developing series with writers of New York Times bestsellers
Y+X Entertainment Group, the film and TV production banner launched by former Fremantle China chief exec Vivian Yin, has struck deals with New York Times bestselling authors to create content for its upcoming vertical video platform LumiView.
Tosca Lee and Kathy Tyers are among more than 50 authors and screenwriters who have signed up to the LumiCreator network, which aims to help writers turn their IP into vertical series.
Lee’s novel Demon is being adapted into a vertical series for LumiView, with production taking place in South Korea, while Tyers’ sci-fi work Firebird is also being developed for the platform.
The expanding creator roster also includes Christy Barritt, whose novel Hidden Currents is being developed for LumiView in collaboration with indie producer Fear Not Productions, and Lorie Langdon, whose Doon series is also being adapted for the vertical platform.
Other additions include Enhanced author Candace Kade and The Wonderland Trials’ scribe Sara Ella, who both have shows in development for LumiView.
Yin said the additions would support the company in “building a slate of premium, creator-driven stories that we believe can help redefine the vertical storytelling landscape.”
She added: “We see vertical video as the next structural evolution in how audiences discover and engage with narrative entertainment. We believe the future belongs to companies building lasting infrastructure, not just scaling content volume, but creating enduring value through original IP, creator ecosystems, and franchise development.”
LumiView is set to launch in beta mode this fall having been first revealed last year by Yin. The exec ran Fremantle’s operations in China for five years until 2020 and before that worked for broadcast giant Star China and Shanghai Media Group.
