Netflix, UIS alum Tesha Crawford joins New Regency

New Regency has hired former Netflix and Universal International Studios exec Tesha Crawford to lead its international TV operations, following the exit of Ed Rubin.

Crawford becomes exec vice president and head of international television at the Prime Target producer, overseeing the company’s TV slate from London.

She oversees international development and production, reporting into chairman and chief exec Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann, president of motion pictures and TV.

Rubin departed last month after shepherding Apple TV+ drama Prime Target and The Beast Must Die for BritBox.

Crawford left UIS in December amid ongoing restructuring at the NBCUniversal division, having been in the role for two years.

 

History lands Blue Ant shows

A+E Global Media’s History has picked up seasons 1-3 of Blue Ant Studios investigative history series Mysteries from Above.

The deal, announced at Banff World Media Festival, “demonstrates the studio’s commitment to exporting their Canadian productions to the U.S. market and globally”, Blue Ant said.

The series sets out to investigate significant historic and contemporary sites from above with drone, satellite, and aerial photography. 

 

France’s M6 preps new holiday format

Banijay Entertainment has unveiled new factual entertainment format La Meilleure Destination Vacances (aka The Best Holiday Destination), which has been picked up by M6 in France.

The show, which is being produced by Endemol France, will launch on 21 June and follows a panel of personalities as they explore destinations across the country to find local attractions, cultural gems, and unforgettable experiences.

The panel will then score each destination against a set of criteria, with only one being crowned Best Holiday Destination.

 

S4C scraps head of unscripted role

Welsh public service broadcaster S4C is to scrap the head of unscripted role, meaning Iwan England is to leave the company after three years.

An S4C statement said the move is part of the evolution of its “creative focus” and “commissioning strategy”.

Last week, the broadcaster revealed new focus on growing its digital output and a hunt for a head of streaming to oversee its VoD service Clic, as well as iPlayer, YouTube and social media. This role is among several digital-focused positions being created. Read more

 

Kanal D’s Farewell Letter lands in Georgia

Kanal D International has sold its Turkish drama Farewell Letter (aka Veda Mektubu) into Georgia.

The show, which is from Most Production and directed by Deniz Çelebi Dikilitaş, explores an intergenerational story of love, secrets and second chances. Broadcaster/streamer details have been kept under wraps.
