TVF’s Ulysses doc goes global

Buyers in APAC and Europe have picked up history doc Ulysses: From Myth to Science from TVF International.

The show, originally commissioned by France TV, comes ahead of Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film and investigates the truth behind the 3,000-year-old myth, The Odyssey.

Companies including Germany’s ZDFinfo, SVT in Sweden, Sky Arts New Zealand, Movistar Plus+ in Spain, and Ceska Televize in the Czech Republic have acquired the show.

It was produced by Mediatika, which collaborated with game studio Ubisoft to bring Ulysses’ world to life in vivid CGI.

 

France’s StudioCanal expands live events

StudioCanal is expanding its live events operations with the launch of a dedicated theatre-focused division.

StudioCanal On Stage aims to exploit the more than 9,400 titles from 60 countries in its library, building on adaptations of IP such as The Producers, Paddington and A Boy Called Christmas.

Ron Halpern, executive vice president of global productions will lead the new arm.

 

C4 boards Nordic train trip

King of Sunshine Productions is taking UK viewers on a festive train trip around Norway’s coast in Nordic Train at Christmas.

The hour-single is for Channel 4 and takes a scenic trip on the Bergen Line, meeting the staff, passengers and locals enjoying the wintry wonderland of Norway. 

The special follows on from 2024’s Alpine Train at Christmas, which reached an aggregated audience of more than 3m viewers last December, according to data supplied by C4. Hugh Bonneville will once again take on narrating duties.

It is produced by Salford-based King of Sunshine with WPP Media’s Motion Entertainment, and is exec produced by Sohail Shah for King of Sunshine and Deep Sehgal for Motion Entertainment, with Gareth Fielding series producing.
