Channel 4 News has moved to a virtual studio temporarily as its regular studio is refurbished as the long-running overhaul comes to an end.

The flagship current affairs programme, produced by ITN, started broadcasting from the virtual studio on Saturday and will be moving back to its usual studio in November.

The new studio is expected to be lighter and more interactive and is part of the ongoing refresh the programme has gone through recently.

Elements from the Channel 4 News website, such as FactCheck, will be incorporated into the programme and the introduction of video walls will see viewer feedback being weaved into the content. The two video walls will be permanent features on the programme.

As part of the changes the second presenter will play more of a role in the programme. Cathy Newman recently joined Jon Snow and Krishnan Guru Murthy, in the studio.

Former Newsnight political editor Michael Crick has joined the programme as political correspondent along with Matt Frei and Jackie Long, also both from the BBC.

Liam Dutton will also be joining as the first ever weather presenter in November as well. A review of the programme was launched at the end of 2010.
