Carlton has announced the first eight factual programmes to come out of its $20m (£14.3m) programming deal with US broadcaster PBS. The raft includes The Big Dig, which focuses on archaeological digs, and Da Vinci's Machines, which charts attempts to build and test machines such as a glider invented by 15th-century artist Leonardo Da Vinci.
