Indie Firecracker Films is making a pair of one-off documentaries for Channel 4 including a film that follows a US child who began preaching at the age of three.

Feature-length observational documentary Baby Bible Bashers(working title) explores the stories of three children, aged six, nine and 11, whose parents claim they have been chosen by God to be preachers. The film follows them as they deal with being mini-missionaries and uncovers the disturbing truth behind their childhood evangelism.

The indie fought off strong competition from other producers to gain access to the children and their families.

The programme is being directed by Amelia Hann, who recently won a Bafta for Ross Kemp on Gangs. It is being executive produced by Firecracker managing director Mark Soldinger and is expected to be broadcast towards the end of this year or early next year.

Firecracker is also making a 60-minute documentary, The Human Spider, following the adrenaline-pumped French free climber Alain Robert. The producers will follow the daredevil, who incredibly suffers from vertigo, as he continues his quest to climb the world's well-known landmark buildings.

The documentary is being directed and executive produced by Soldinger. It is due to air early next year.

Soldinger said: 'These are both fantastic projects with genuinely fascinating stories to tell. We are very pleased to have Amelia on board for Baby Bible Basherswhich will provide a shocking insight into these children's lives.'

Both documentaries were ordered by C4 commissioning editor, features Liam Humphries.
