Landing her first TV job at Firebird Pictures soon after the scripted indie’s launch in 2019, Katie Stevens proved instrumental to the company’s success.

Initially hired as a development assistant, within two years she took on the role of script editor on Wilderness, a Prime Video thriller from Marnie Dickens. From there, she became a story producer on Wild Cherry, the latest BBC1 drama from Mood creator Nicôle Lecky.

The pair struck up a close working relationship on the project from its inception through development and scripting, from generating storylines in the writers’ room to outlining episodes.

“In production, Katie’s innate warmth, positive energy and empathetic nature meant that she easily built relationships and was eager to listen and learn from others,” says Firebird creative director Ayela Butt. “She always kept her cool in high-pressure situations – thinking quickly to solve even the most challenging problems in a calm and considered way.”

Dublin-born Katie moved to London to study for an MA in producing for film and television but hasn’t lost touch with her roots. A fiercely proud champion of Irish writing talent, she nurtures relationships with emerging writers, supporting them through the early stages of their career.

“Katie is one of the most impressive, talented and hard-working young creatives I have had the pleasure of working with,” says Firebird co-founder and chief executive Elizabeth Kilgarriff. “Her ability to nurture, empower and champion every writer she works with is standout and has earned her an excellent reputation with agents and the creative community.”
