A pair of undercover investigations for Channel 4 put Monika Ghosh on the map after she was picked from a pool of unpaid interns at Quicksilver Media to become an assistant producer on current affairs strand Unreported World.

Madagascar – Girls Behind Bars, which Monika developed and pitched, and for which she secured access to a jail where young girls were put in jail so their employers could avoid payment, led to a law change in the country. Research for a further Unreported World, meanwhile, led to a Rose d’Or-nominated Dispatches film, India’s Rape Scandal, that to this day is shared by Whatsapp groups as it remains banned in the country.

From there, Monika’s knack for landing access to tough subjects led to producer credits on films such as BBC2’s Billion Dollar Downfall: the Dealmaker, Sky Docs’ The Man Who Definitely Didn’t Steal Hollywood and BBC2’s Immigration: How British Politics Failed.

Most recently, Monika was promoted from senior producer to edit director for episode two of BBC1’s What’s the Monarchy For?, organising interviews with figures such as David Cameron and Mary McAleese. She also briefed David Dimbleby on his 35 interviews across the series, with the presenter telling her: “It would not have been possible to deliver such a devastating but nuanced analysis without you.”

The Garden creative director Nicola Brown gave Monika a senior producer role on a similarly ambitious new project, and praises her “exceptionally meticulous approach to everything she does” and “rare combination of intelligence, journalistic rigour and storytelling instincts”.

Brown adds: “Monika’s ferocious intellect and enviable memory was relied upon heavily during interviews where our presenter held high-profile politicians and royal insiders to account. Her charm, confidence and quick wittedness meant she was never afraid to step in and course correct. Monika’s impact on any production is huge.”
