New tools come from company’s acquisition of Film Impact
Adobe has added over 90 effects, transitions and animations to Premiere Pro, following its acquisition of Film Impact.
As part of version 25.5 of the editing software, the Film Impact library will now be built into Premiere Pro and a part of the Creative Cloud subscription. Previously, editors would have to use a separate plug-in and subscription.
These effects are GPU-accelerated, and will be playable as soon as they are dropped into an edit and won’t need to render when tweaked. The dissolves, blurs, and wipes include earthquake, glitch, distortion, VHS damage, and chaos transitions, as well as kaleidoscope.
It is also possible to animate text, video and graphics without having to use a motion designer such as After Effects.
These new additions are accessible through the Effects panel, or users can navigate to the Window menu and select “Film Impact Dashboard” in the Extensions menu for an interactive panel with live previews of every tool. Users can also set a default font for texts and captions, import 16-bit PNG files, and more.
Other updates for Premiere Pro 25.5 include making audio waveforms visible while dragging or editing clips, and that keyframes and markers are displayed alongside the waveform while dragging a clip too. The company is also moving towards an aim of less than one tenth of a second lag when clicking play on a video.
