As part of the acquisition, Blazing Griffin will add a new theatrical-grade suite to its Glasgow facility

Scottish production/post house Blazing Griffin has aquired Glasgow-based post-production facility Brick + Mortar.
Brick + Mortar was founded last year and is led by senior colourist Tom Cairns and creative director and editor Jack Lang. It was established in partnership with Simon Mallinson, who also founded the production companies MTP and Randan.
Brick + Mortar’s credits include international feature films and commercial projects, while Blazing Griffin has also been moving into feature film production work, having delivered three titles in 2025 – California Schemin’ (James McAvoy’s directorial debut), Glenrothan (Brian Cox’s directorial debut), and Grow (directed by John McPhail).
As part of the acquisition, Blazing Griffin is expanding its post-production footprint with a new theatrical-grade suite at its Glasgow facility, bringing a full, cinema-standard pipeline under one roof.
The suite will be built using the high-end grading and finishing kit acquired from Brick + Mortar, including 4k Christie CP4420-Xe cinema projector, large cinema-grade screen, and Baselight grading system.
This will be the first dedicated DCI grade theatre in Scotland, delivering to the highest international standards.
Brick + Mortar will continue operating under its own name from its current base at Trinity Towers. Once the new suite is completed at Blazing Griffin, the Brick + Mortar team will be able to work across both sites.
Simon Mallinson, executive producer & founder of MTP, Randan, and Brick + Mortar, said: “Selling to Blazing Griffin was the right thing for everyone. Once amalgamated, the two companies will make a stronger force than either on its own. Blazing Griffin brings Brick + Mortar the support it needs to operate at the top level, and Brick + Mortar adds its reputation in the indie film market to Blazing Griffin’s high-end feature work. I look forward to continuing to work with Jack and Tom knowing there is a world-class post facility in Scotland that I’m proud to have helped build. For our production clients, it’s no change — only improvement.”
Tom Cairns co-founder of Brick + Mortar, added: “I’ve been following Blazing Griffin’s development since the very beginning and have always been a great admirer of their ambition, their ability to set new standards, and the quality of work they produce again and again. Brick + Mortar was born from a desire to offer high-end creative finishing work that breaks the mold in the UK. We wanted to offer a premiere theatrical grade option that didn’t have to be in central London. I see Blazing Griffin now as the perfect partner to take our ambitions to the next level. I’m incredibly excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Jack Lang, co-founder of Brick + Mortar, said: “There is a high calibre of both post and production happening in Scotland now, which arguably wouldn’t be here without the talent, aspirations and high standards that are at home at Blazing Griffin. Brick + Mortar was founded with a drive for making Scotland the global destination for high-end international film post. To hear that energy echoed by the Blazing team has been a breath of fresh air and I look forward to working with them to continue proving that Scotland punches far above its weight in the film world.”
Naysun Alae-Carew, managing director and executive producer at Blazing Griffin, added: “This is a natural progression for Blazing Griffin. We’ve admired what Brick + Mortar have built – a talented team with a creative energy that matches our own. Combining forces allows us to take another big step towards our shared vision: establishing Scotland as a home for truly world-class post-production.”
