Mark Benson believes VFX supervisors and artists are leading the charge in meeting the complex demands of new platforms and formats

A renewed value and importance has been placed on the expertise of the VFX community by new platforms and formats. This has been driven by the unparalleled ability to provide solutions to the new and often complex needs of visual experiences and tnew platforms.
VFX supervisors and artists continue to lead the way in providing the vision and talent to harness the ways in which creative content is consumed and enjoyed, and I see the demands on leadership in these roles growing exponentially in the coming months and years.
The VFX community will become an even more critical and valued component of the content creation industry in the future.
It’s critical that content creators and platform developers work together as the needs and expectations of experiential content continue to evolve.
I see collaboration between “enablers” and “makers” reaching new levels of effectiveness and success, and further shaping and realising the future of the experiential content industries, not just in entertainment, but across all industries including education, training, museums, medicine and sport.
AI is already embedded in VFX workflows and enabling faster turnaround times for pre-vis/concepting of ideas. In turn, this is enabling more time to be allocated to the talent-driven crafting of final images. Concept artists and supervisors working in harmony are harnessing AI tools to maximise the value of time and budget for pre-vis and final delivery, and the creation of truly effective and meaningful content and experiences.
VFX expertise is well placed to provide the necessary vision, leadership and solutions for the future of content creation. The global VFX community continues to remind us that on any screen, in any place, “nothing is impossible”.
