Bateman St base will continue as dry hire facility

Formosa Group has shut down its UK audio post services.
A statement from the company, provided to Broadcast Tech, said: “The closure of Formosa Group’s scripted post-sound business in the UK reflects the requirement to right size our company, better aligning with today’s market.
“This decision centered on strengthening our foundation to preserve our leadership position while reestablishing the ability to quickly adapt to an ever changing dynamic market.”
Its Bateman St facility is set to continue as a dry hire business, and Formosa will continue its UK audio services for video games. It is unclear if the company will keep hold of its St. Anne’s Court facility.
This has resulted in a number of redundancies at the company, reportedly including its senior re-recording mixers Mike Prestwood-Smith and Howard Bargroff as well as managing director Helen Alexander.
This news comes at a difficult time for the UK post industry, with Halo and Evolutions holding company Mojo Bridge going into administration this month, shortly after it had been acquired by Envy.
