‘Good access, great interviews and sound narrative structure’

Boyzone: No Matter What charts the success of the 90s boyband, from their beginnings as five working-class men from Dublin to the heights of their successes, not shying away from their tragedies.

The loss of bandmember Stephen Gately felt particularly poignant throughout the documentary, with one judge praising how the filmmakers had skillfully woven his voice throughout.

The series touched on complex issues, grief, sexuality, masculine identity, the search for validation, and the overwhelming pressures of fame.

There was also high praise for the documentary series’s “good access, great interviews and sound narrative structure”.

Meanwhile another judge commented “this felt like a clear winner that both the industry judges loved as well as the audience”.
