‘Incredibly sensitive telling of an important story’
The two-part series Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth is anchored by the late presenter’s mother Christine Flack and her quest for clarity and justice over the circumstances that led her daughter to take her own life.
Christine reconstructs the final months of Caroline’s life in 2020, following a domestic charge which was initially deemed minor. She guides the viewer through police transcripts, 999 calls, suicide notes, voice memos and unseen texts to shed new light on inconsistencies in police procedure and Crown Prosecution Service decision-making, and uncover a tragedy fuelled by tabloid sensationalism.
One judge praises the “incredibly sensitive telling of an important story” which reframed the “major cultural conversation” which happened in the wake of Caroline’s shocking death.
“This was a clear winner for me,” they add, while another highlights the new information the film unveiled, thanks to its great access to those closest to Caroline, as well as expert testimony from legal voices including former CPS prosecutor Nazir Afzal.
Others praise its “premium” style, with one judge saying it is “beautifully put together” and has a “powerful” overall impact on viewers.
