Spring Films, the indie behind Werner Herzog’s Channel 4 Death Row series, has appointed Frost on Nixon producer Figs Jackman as its head of development.

Jackman will oversee the documentary specialist’s slate of upcoming shows as it bids to increase its output in the UK.

He most recently produced BBC2’s three-part natural navigation series All Roads Lead to Home.

Jackman has also overseen a number of programmes with Sir David Frost, including a look back at the broadcaster’s famous Watergate interviews for BBC2 and BBC4’s Frost on Interviews.

Channel 4’s Death Row was produced by Spring Films in association with Creative Differences in Los Angeles and Werner Herzog Films in Vienna.

Former Disappearing World producer André Singer is the creative director and chief executive at Spring, while Richard Melman - the former channels director and head of programming for History and Bio - is the managing director.
