Indie DLT Entertainment UK is making a new pre-watershed comedy for BBC 1 starring Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wannamaker, writes Tara Conlan.
With the working title My Family, the 8 x 30-minute series was commissioned by BBC 1 controller Peter Salmon through BBC television head of comedy Geoffrey Perkins.

Produced by John Bartlett, the new show is due to go into production in the summer for delivery in the autumn and may form part of BBC 1's autumn schedule. Baz Taylor will direct.

A former freelance producer, Bartlett has recently been appointed to the new role of DLT Entertainment director of comedy and drama, with a brief to head up the indie's UK operations and development.

Bartlett, who produced the first five series of sitcom Goodnight Sweetheart, said he is in talks to move DLT into new areas, including developing programmes with cable and satellite operators.

The indie and its sister company, Theatre of Comedy, already produce successful, long-running BBC 1 sitcom, As Time Goes By, starring Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. Production has just finished on the eighth series of this comedy.
