A BBC cross-platform commissioner who pioneered interactive entertainment with Test The Nation has taken up a new senior digital role at Embarrassing Bodies producer Maverick Television.

As the indie’s senior interactive producer, Sandra Gorel will develop multiplatform projects for the BBC and C4, and for brands.

As a BBC entertainment multiplatform commissioning executive, Gorel has worked on cross-platform elements for brands such as Children In Need, Sport Relief, Eurovision and Wimbledon.

She has also been part of the development team on Project Canvas. Gorel, a former Broadcast Hot Shot, was previously the BBC’s portfolio executive for TV platforms, building strategies across IPTV, red button and YouTube.

She also worked as a multiplatform producer on Walking With Beasts, Restoration and Test The Nation, for which she developed a live playalong quiz in 2001.

Maverick head of new media Dan Jones said: “Her approach to working on world firsts, both editorially and technically, ties in perfectly with Maverick’s ethos, and her experience with live projects and the likes of Canvas will be invaluable as we try out more multiplatform ideas in these spaces.”
