Channel 4 has raided the BBC for a replacement for outgoing commissioning editor, education Richard McKerrow, appointing Trouble At The Top series producer Simon Dickson to the role, writes Penny Hughes.
Dickson joins at the end of March reporting to C4 head of science and education Sara Ramsden. McKerrow, who will oversee C4's entire March budget round for education, plans to leave at the end of April (Broadcast, 19.10.01).Ramsden told Broadcast she was looking forward to working with someone with a 'strong track record'.Dickson's credits also include Blood on the Carpet and Head on the Block.He joined the BBC as a trainee assistant producer in 1991.Meanwhile, it has emerged that C4 commissioning editor, drama Helen Gregory has left the channel with no job to go to. Before her departure in December, Gregory was compiling a review of the channel's flagship soap Brookside, deemed to be 'for the benefit of the next chief executive', according to senior C4 executives (Broadcast, 16.11.01).
