The BBC has paid out a five-figure sum to Kamal Khalfan, the director of Omani diamond business Oryx which was falsely linked to the al-Qaida terrorist network in a BBC news report last October. The out-of-court settlement, which the BBC said was 'for any damage that (Khalfan) suffered as a result', follows an apology broadcast by the BBC last November.
