BBC1 has ordered a second series of popular factual series Cars, Cops and Criminals after a successful first run over the summer.

Cars, Cops and Criminals is a 3 x 60-minute series by Steadfast Television, which shows how officers are using increasingly sophisticated methods to catch criminals.

It will also talk to people who have suffered vehicle theft and number plate cloning as well as revealing the best to avoid becoming a victim.

The first series of Cars, Cops and Criminals won its 9pm-10pm slot with 5m (23.4%) three weeks in a row.

It was executive produced by Aileen McCracken and was ordered by BBC commissioning executive for documentaries Charlotte Moore and BBC1 controller Jay Hunt.

The series will transmit in 2009 and is being distributed by Steadfast International.
