Tiger Aspect to produce daytime format
BBC1 has ordered an immersive murder mystery daytime quiz from Murder In Successville indie Tiger Aspect.
Armchair Detectives will combine a murder mystery drama with a gameshow to transport three players and viewers at home to the fictional town of Mortcliff, where a dastardly crime has been committed.
In the playalong and immersive investigation, contestants and the audience must attempt to work out who committed the crime as suspects and clues come to light.
The 20 x 45-minute series was commissioned by controller of daytime and programming Dan McGolpin and daytime and early peak commissioning editor Jo Street.
Street called it an “ambitious” and “innovative “idea from an “infectiously creative team”
“The clever mix of drama and quiz hits just the right tone for our audience,” she said.
The show will be series produced by Carly Brooks and exec produced by Tiger’s head of comedy entertainment Andy Brereton, who exec produced BBC3’s Murder In Successville.
McGolpin said: “We all love to escape into a good murder mystery story and Armchair Detectives is an innovative new series that will allow us to play along like never before, testing our powers of deduction against three talented studio contestants.”
