Production chief had been with the streamer for five years

Netflix’s Anna Mallett is among roughly 3% of the UK workforce to be exiting the company, as part of the streamer’s plans to cut 1,000 roles globally.

Mallett, who had been vice-president of production for the UK & EMEA, joined the streamer in 2021 having been chief exec at ITN for just over a year.

Before that, she worked at BBC Studios as group chief operating officer and managing director of production.

She initially led Netflix’s production management team responsible for live-action series, non-fiction and film across EMEA, LatAm and APAC.

Mallett then took on a remit across UK and EMEA that saw her working on shows ranging from Adolescence to La Casa De Papel spin-off Berlin.

Her exit comes two weeks after the streamer revealed plans to cut around 6% of its workforce worldwide to trim costs against Wall Street concerns with slowing growth.

Details of other departures are still emerging, but marketing teams across EMEA are believed to have also been impacted.

The cuts have already hit a raft of Netflix’s top staff, with global content boss Bela Bajaria and film chief Dan Lin exiting over recent weeks.

Former Disney and Fox exec Peter Rice has since been drafted in to oversee the content side of the business.

The Ankler first reported her departure.
