Polly Rowe to lead scripted development and help expand project slate at the producer of ITV’s Austin

Australian production company Northern Pictures, the indie behind the ITV comedy Austin, has recruited a head of scripted development to expand its scripted projects.
Polly Rowe has been appointed to the role at Northern, which is also behind factual smash franchise Love on the Spectrum, and brings extensive experience in content development.
At Northern Pictures, Rowe will oversee the development and commissioning of scripted content, with a brief to deliver innovative, diverse and globally resonant storytelling.

She previously served as development producer at Black Snow indie Goalpost Pictures and has collaborated with major platforms and broadcasters including Amazon, Netflix, Stan and the ABC. Her credits at Goalpost include Top End Bub and Black Snow.
Rowe has also served as the literary manager at Sydney Theatre Company, working with artistic directors Cate Blanchett, Kip Williams and Andrew Upton to commission more than 45 Australian plays.
“Their brilliant strategic and innovative thinking is evident on screen, and I look forward to helping expand the company’s legacy of bold, authentic storytelling worldwide,” she said.
Northern Pictures was this year recognised as Screen Producers Australia Production Business of the Year and holds seven Primetime Emmy Awards for Love on the Spectrum, making it Australia’s most awarded production company in Emmy history.
Managing director Matt Vitins added: “Polly brings a clear creative sensibility, a genuine love for writing and writers, and deep relationships with some of Australia’s most exciting screenwriting talent.”
